Car accidents are one of the most common causes of injury and death in the United States. Sadly, all it takes is just one second for two vehicles to collide, and people's lives to be forever changed.

Recently in North Franklin Township in Pennsylvania, two drivers were injured when one vehicle broadsided another. The impact caused one of the vehicles to crash into a tree, and the driver inside of that vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle he was operating.

The accident happened on Thursday on Park Avenue. At the time, a 34-year-old Pennsylvania man was sitting in his car stopped, waiting to make a left hand turn into a business. In the process of making that turn, he was broadsided by another vehicle.

The 34-year-old's car ended up hitting a tree from the impact of the collision with the other vehicle. The driver ended up having to be extricated out of the smashed car, and was then taken to UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with very serious injuries. The 53-year-old from Pittsburgh who was driving the other car suffered from some minor injuries.

Police claim that before the accident, the 53-year-old had also swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to pass five vehicles.

In this case, while the exact extent of the 34-year-old's injuries was not mentioned in a recent news article, it is known that he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. This could end up meaning that the driver will be facing costly medical expenses. However, if the other driver was to blame for the accident, there is the chance that the 53-year-old will be held liable.
